Winter 2019 Positions and Nominees
EXECUTIVE
President
Emma Puddicombe
I believe I am a good candidate for this position based on my past experience with MUSSA and my dedication to this program and its students. I have grown to love MUSSA for everything it does for MMSt students and I want to continue working on this team in the future. Over the last year, I helped to organize many events in an effort to connect the different members of this program and bring them closer together. I was also ready and willing to take on more responsibility during my time here by taking on the role of social chair. I have gained an understanding of what efforts and leadership qualities are required to make a successful association and I believe my hard work and dedication makes me a good candidate for the position of president. I care about this program and everyone’s voice within it, so I will work to make sure everyone is included and represented equally next year. I would be honoured to have the opportunity of becoming next years MUSSA President where I will continue working to make sure next year is incredible for all MMSt students.

I would be honoured to have the opportunity to represent Museum Studies Students as the Vice-President of MUSSA.

Second Year Representative
Amelia Smith
From an early age, I never saw anyone that was like me. Reflecting on this in recent years, this instilled
in me an obligation to act as a beacon for those who cannot have their voices heard. To do this, I have taken on positions that have let me represent others, such as with the Faculty of Information’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee. My personality helps me with this, as I am approachable, honest and dedicated to doing right by fellow Museum Studies peers. Through my experience and personality, I feel confident that I could represent the Second Years throughout the year. |
Michelle Wright
MISC-MUSSA Liason
Lauren McAusland
Hello! My name is Lauren and I am finishing my first year of the Combined Degree Program. Over the course of this year, I represented MUSSA on the Committee on Standing and Tech Fund Committee. In these positions, I advocated on behalf of the student body and was relayed the activities of both committees back to MUSSA. The responsibilities of these committee positions are highly transferable to those of the MISC-MUSSA Liaison position, for which I am nominating myself.
Over the past year, MISC and MUSSA have reached new heights in their partnership through coordination on joint events and offering mutual support on council initiatives. If elected to this position, I aim to maintain this momentum and create new opportunities for MISC and MUSSA collaboration. I seek to represent both councils equally, and keep all members informed about all activities within our diverse faculty. |
Sydney Stype
As a rising third year CDP student, I have experience with both the MI and MMSt sides of the Faculty. I want to give back to the community that has inspired me and helped me through my time at the iSchool. I have been involved in many iSchool activities and would love to be more involved in my last year. I will be able to help keep an open channel of communication between MISC and MUSSA.

Musings Editor-In-Chief
Jordan Fee
My name is Jordan Fee, and I would like to be your Musings Editor-in -Chief because I believe that Musings is one of the most engaging and exciting ways that students can interact with current museum practices. During my first year, I acted as the Communications Officer for Musings, which provided me with great insight into the inner-workings of the blog. Using this knowledge, I will continue to foster growth within the Musings community and help writers to express their thoughts freely.

Alexandra Forand
I am a first year Masters of Museum Studies candidate and a current Musings editor. As a current Musing editor I have the opportunity to be mentored by the current editor-in-chiefs and my fellow editors. Musings has provided me full creative licence to reach my full potential and develop a brand new column, with the help of my following editors. It would be an honour to provide support for this highly energetic and inclusive team, be a representative of Musings on the executive council, and uphold the legacy of past editor-and-chief(s). I will strive to create not only a safe space, but a brave space, for new and returning editors to discuss and critique museums. Musings is an amazing community of people and it would be an honour to uphold the vison and mandate of Musings, be a representative for this incredible team, and encourage and cultivate unique ideas.

COMMITTEES
Admissions Committee Representative
N/A
Alumni Association Representative
Joanna Wreakes
As your Alumni Committee Representative I would be honoured to strenghten the relationships between MMSt alumni and current students - especially as this year is the 50th anniversary of our program. If elected, I would work to increase chances for current MMSt students to network with alumni both in professional and social settings.
I have extensive experience in student governance from my undergraduate career, having served as Public Relations rep, Treasurer, and ultimately President of the East Asian Studies Student Association at the University of Alberta. Through this I am confident in my collaborative skills and ready to put these to work for MUSSA. I'm looking forward to representing current MMSt folks on FIAA as the Alumni Committee Representative! |
