EXECUTIVE POSITIONS
President
Johanna Hill

Hiya! I'm Johanna (she/her) and I am running for MUSSA President for the 2023-24 academic year. Serving on the council for the last two years has been an incredible honour, and I have seen the strength of the MUSSA community through our social and academic events, in addition to developing a strong understanding of how MUSSA can best serve the MMSt and CDP at large (sorry that this sounds like something out of a poorly written episode of the West Wing). As President, I would love to continue the great work put together this past year by continuing the traditions of socials and end-of-year galas, and working with the team to get great dino memes in your inbox during the school year. I'd like to help expand access to internship and professional resources for folks in the program, as well as continue to generate a great atmosphere of learning, professional development, and friendship in the year to come. Thanks for reading, voting, and being involved with student government! Cheers :D
Vice President
Ruth Bryce

Having been secretary for MUSSA this past year, I have enjoyed getting to see everything going on in our faculty and would like to continue to be involved, as well as learn more about what the faculty is doing. I have experience being a chief electoral officer in my undergraduate. I have run elections before and know that it’s such an important part of council and a chance to see how people grow throughout their positions. As the vice president I would also write the MUSEletter which I think is a great opportunity to spread information about what’s happening that I would love getting to complete every week. I hope that in this position I get to continue to meet and talk to the wonderful people in our program!
Social Chair
Panni Ajtony

Hi everyone! I’m Panni (she/her), an international first-year MMSt student. This past year, I had the chance to be MUSSA’s Social Assistant, a position I loved holding mainly because I got to create events for and interact with so many of you. I hope you enjoyed our museum visit, professional event, Christmas and Valentine’s socials, and everything else we came up with. Don’t forget that two of our biggest projects, the MISC-MUSSA End-of-Year Gala and the Field Trip is still ahead of us! I hope to see you many of you there as well. I’m very excited to run for the Social Chair position, because while I’m proud of the work of the Social Team this year (shoutout to Renée, our outgoing Social Chair!), I’m looking to make our events even better next year. For this, I would also build on my professional experience in project management and cultural event planning. I hope I get to continue planning events for you with MUSSA, if you have any suggestions, please reach out to me. :)
Social Media Manager
Anna Benko

Hello everyone! My name is Anna (she/her), and I’m an MMSt student completing my first year in the program. This past year I had the pleasure of holding the position of MUSSA’s Social Media Assistant, during which I created content for our various social media platforms to communicate content about events and information relevant to the MUSSA community. Some highlights of the position include introducing the new Museum Monday Instagram campaign to help inform students about GLAM events happening each week, collaborating with various council members to publicise their events and initiatives, and creating a new internal organization system for upcoming content. As Social Media Manager, I would look forward to guiding and working with the incoming Social Media Assistant to continue informing and growing MUSSA’s digital community.
Devin de Silva

Well I just want to be more involved in MUSSA, and social media manager seems to be an interesting role. I am aware of the general responsibilities of such a position, having served as social media/communications officer for my departmental magazine and a language exchange society during my undergrad.
Second-Year Representative
Sophie Langille

As your 2nd Year Representative I want to make the voices of my fellow 2nd year classmates heard. Having lived in a number of places, I always look for ways to connect in some way with those around me. I am a total empath, so I will provide a friendly listening ear for your feedback and concerns. I also want to use that energy to encourage interest and engagement with all the great things that MUSSA has to offer. As your former Treasurer, and having already managed the finances, as your 2nd Year Rep I will work on putting that money towards things that are worthwhile, such as merchandise and supporting the Social Committee with any ongoing events.
COMMITTEE POSITIONS
Musings Copy Editor
Devin de Silva

Think I'm quite well versed in copyediting, having worked as a language tutor part time for over 4 years, and I have experiences editing submissions to my undergrad departmental magazine. I guess it's also relevant to mention that I've made over 7000 edits on Wikipedia over the last decade, including many copyedits.
Zoë Tokarchuk

I'm interested in collections and object stories, and as your Musings Copy Editor I would be excited to help polish the fascinating insights of MUSSA members! I have been the unofficial copy editor for my family and friends for years, since I have a talent for proofreading (perfectionism) and love of reading. As the Summer Assistant Curator at the Jeffrey Rubinoff Sculpture Park, I wrote and edited interpretive texts and tour scripts as well as managing the website and writing digital content. I also have plenty of experience editing text for papers, labels, presentations, and blog posts from (so many) group projects. If elected, I look forward to spending time with writers to make sure that Musings helps students to publish the best possible version of their work.

Recruitment and Admissions Committee Rep.
Zoë Tokarchuk

I'm running for the position of Recruitment & Admissions Committee Representative because I want to be part of welcoming new students to the MMSt/CDP program and sharing the program with potential students. I really appreciated the admissions events and workshops when I was researching and applying to the MMSt program, and would love to be a part of and help support the work of the MRAC.

Committee on Standing Representative
Johanna Hill

Being part of MUSSA for the last two years has been a great joy, and I would love to be able to continue my position on the Committee on Standing for the 2023-24 academic year. Continuing the commitment to representing the needs of MMSt and CDP students on the Committee means carrying over my relationships with professors and ensuring the student voice is heard when it comes to extension and extenuating circumstances policy. Though this position is a lot more in-the-background compared to other roles in MUSSA, the commitment to the museum studies community remains the same. Within this position, I will continue my commitment to y'all, and if there's ever an issue regarding assignments that you can't complete because of circumstances beyond your control, I'll help you through forms and other admin headaches to get you the iSchool support you need. Like all MUSSA members, I'm another listening ear within the community, and I hope to see you around campus next year :)
